Batman v. Superman: A worthwhile cinematic clash

If youve been paying attention to movies lately, youre probably aware of the recent release of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

The superhero-centric hit highlights the unusual story of Americas favorite protagonists, incorporating creative scenes, interesting plot lines and complex characters.

This was not a DC movie you would expect to see on the big screen. It was bigger and bolder than some of their recent installments, save for The Dark Knight Trilogy. But the movie outdid Man of Steel, The Green Lantern, and Jonah Hex. This movie was full of story and entertainment, even if other people complain that there wasnt enough action.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice stars Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/ Batman, Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/ Wonder Woman, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, and Laurence Fishburne as Perry White. This 1510-minute hit struck gold its opening weekend starting out with a booming $166 million.

Zack Snyder (Watchmen, Man of Steel,) directed the latest blockbuster hit of the spring. The production budget of the movie was quite grand, with Snyder $250 million to make the movie. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, released March 25, has already grossed twice that amount worldwide.

The film begins with the story of Bruce Waynes traumatic childhood where his parents are shot after going to a movie together as a family. Bruce channels this anger to fight crime in the streets of Gotham City. During the events of Man of Steel, Superman — AKA Clark Kent — tries to fight his way out of a battle, while causing great destruction in Gotham City, and consequently killing many citizens. Wayne uses his rage to get to Superman by attempting to construct a plan to stop him throughout the movie. However, Kents side of the story follows his fight against Batmans cruel sense of justice.

Meanwhile. an evil doctor named Lex Luthor uses Superman in an attempt to get him framed, in order to prove that no one can be both a superhuman and a good person at the same time. Superman struggles with Luthors theory and the difficult lifestyle of being god-like, as well as better person. He is also distracted by Batmans anger toward him, which steers him away from stopping Luthors destructive plans.

At the end of the movie though, I can admit that there were a few problems, for I mistakenly believed the movie to be over multiple times. The length of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice may be lengthy and slightly drawn-out, but it is definitely worth the long sit.

The film is a lot better and far easier to understand if youve seen the Dark Knight trilogy and Man of Steel before.

When I saw the reviews of this movie before going to watch it in theaters, its safe to say that I was skeptical about going to see it. However, my love for Batman was my main motive for giving this soon-to-be superhero-classic a shot.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has a 29 percent on Rottentomatoes.com, a 44 on Metacritic.com, and a 7.4 on IMDb.com. I was happily surprised with how well the movie, was despite the sub-par reviews it has been getting. I think that it is due to the fact that they dont like the ending. But Im not about to spoil the movie for you, so youll have to see what I mean when you go see it.
