Every store that sells coffee has its staple styles. Starbucks and Wawa have their safe, run-of-the-mill brews, and Dunkin’ Donuts has their notoriously sweet coffees — but the most appealing and joyful drinks come from the local shops right here in Emmaus, and Nowhere Coffee Co. is a perfect example. The business combines simplicity and professionalism to provide either a busy come-and-go or casual laid-back experience. Nowhere Coffee’s unique characteristics of small business made it the prime location for President Joe Biden’s re-election tour. Out of their three locations, President Biden visited the Emmaus location to grab a smoothie before meeting the Emmaus Fire Training Academy.

However, on March 7, the owners of Nowhere Coffee Co. closed their Emmaus location due to concerns about water damage from a leak in their ceiling. Even though Nowhere Coffee is closed, there are still several amazing cafes in Emmaus.

True Blue is a mom-and-pop Mediterranean restaurant located in the East Penn Plaza. They have a bronze and wooden-colored interior, with an indoor style that feels welcoming. While famous for their delicious wraps and aesthetics, True Blue also makes tasty and refreshing coffees. They offer up to 16 different drinks, all varying in their construction. If someone wants a simple coffee to grab as soon as possible, they could ask for a regular black coffee, though the coffee beans themselves come from elsewhere. True Blue is best in their specialty coffees, like a Toasted Coconut Cream Latte or Ultimate Dark and Steamy. Both have rich syrups mixed into the coffee, which leave a pleasant aftertaste and a heartwarming effect.

Located on the other side of the East Penn Plaza, Affinito is a comforting Italian restaurant that serves pizza, pasta, desserts, and coffee. When walking into Affinito, there is a narrow walkway leading up to the register, with vintage Italian paintings and photos to the sides. Similarly to True Blue, Affinito is best known for their dinner items, but their coffee has its own spotlight. They offer simple coffee with optional cream or sugar, which complements their desserts perfectly.

On the same road to Nowhere Coffee, Baked Bakery and Cafe focuses primarily on smaller foods and light caffeinated beverages. With a comfortable interior and snug aesthetic, Baked makes delicious bang for your buck coffee. If looking for other options, Baked also has matcha lattes and teas, or homemade pastries if one is looking for a more filling option.

Whenever you feel the need for a pick-me-up, stop by one of these spots for a refreshing coffee and an enjoyable experience.
