A comedy, thriller, and family movie all wrapped into one,“Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice,” a 2024 sequel to Tim Burton’s 1988 thriller, “Beetlejuice,” showing the true meaning of loss, family, death, and life, all at the same time.
Although Burton didn’t bring Alec Baldwin or Geena Davis back into the sequel, they worked around the absence of previous characters.
The main character, Beetlejuice, is a ghost and prankster that causes mayhem if some one says his name three times. In “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” the Deetz family returns to Winter River after the tragic death of Lydia’s father, played by Jeffery Jones. The attic sparks an interest in Lydia’s daughter, Astrid, played by Jenna Ortega, when she’s exploring the house.
From that point on, traps and plot twists fall upon the protagonists. Lydia, goes into the afterlife to help Astrid escape before Beetlejuice gets involved. This movie had a mix of comedy and suspense which kept me on my toes. I like how the movie displays a sense of love and family to create a bond between the characters.
“Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” not only has a good sense of humor, but is also a fun and entertaining movie for all audiences. It amazes how Burton creates plot twists in this movie to prompt suspense. This displays how Burton really puts time and maximum effort into his movies to create masterpieces.
Burton explained how he wanted to make “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” for quite some time but waited for ‘very personal reasons.’ It was worth the wait because the movie has received over $284 million in domestic box offices since the movie was released in September. This was a huge jump from the first movie, “Beetlejuice,” as it only made around $74 million domestically. This sequel proves to be a major success not only for Burton but for the franchise as a whole.
When it comes to producing a great film, special effects and makeup is a major part of it. Between the first and second movies, the special effects have majorly improved, especially in the scene where Lydia and Astrid run from the sandworm.
Though this movie is fictional, it still shows a message of how important family really is. It’s humorous, suspenseful, and compliments the first movie expertly. The film not only makes me laugh, but it also has a lot of references and similarities to the first movie. I would highly recommend this movie to anyone who loves horror and comedy movies or Tim Burton movies in general.
4/5 stars.

Lol it most certainly does not. The original is pure class, it had a proper storyline and is an excellent cast of actors doing a great job.
Beetle juice Beetle juice started off good and that was about it. Multiple storylines that began to make no sense, leaving you confused what the film was actually about. Poor acting, which could be down to the script as most of the actors in the second coming are really great in other movies. The film even becomes a musical, what’s Beetle juice about that?
Some parts of the movie were OK, but not enough to make me watch it again or think I’ve just spent my time well watching it. Bjbj was a huge disappointment and I don’t understand why its getting good reviews or ratings. Watch the 1st film then the second straight after and then tell me the second was even good let alone a good follow on.
Beetle juice 2 should of stuck to his ex reeking havoc on the living to find Mr keaton, they could of done a twist where he asks on the deets to help him, there’s a twist. He could of come into the world of the living and tried fitting in with alsprts of comedy and funny scary scenes, while the evil ex does her thing and so on. That already sounds better than what was made.
Many films today follow each other and there’s no originality like we got from films back in the 80s and 90s. Remakes are popping up everywhere and it shows that no one can make something good and fresh. But for all of us that love our movies. Please stop ruining the old ones with poor remakes!!!
