Every morning as sophomore Fiona Harvey gets ready for a busy day, she immediately reads positive quotes she has written on her whiteboard. She doesn’t limit these positive affirmations to just herself, either — Harvey acts as a helping hand to everyone around her.

Fiona Harvey’s podcast, “Framing Our Lives Podcast,” details her unique experiences as a high school student and acts as a poster-board for all of the wisdom she has gathered thus far.

“My one friend was just like ‘you should totally start a podcast,’ and I was like ‘wait, that’s a good idea,’” Harvey said.

Once Harvey heard of the idea, she knew she was going to follow through with it.

Over the first few months, she covered topics such as acceptance, friendship, and breakups on her podcast. Though she does not currently follow a strict posting schedule, Harvey has managed to publish several episodes already. These episodes can be accessed through her YouTube channel, “Framing Our Lives Podcast.”

To Harvey, it is no secret that being a high school student can get stressful, especially when participating in several activities such as Girl Scouts, girls tennis team, a lacrosse club team, Student Forum, Science Olympiad, starting the Buddy Up Club, and playing two instruments. She plays the cello and piano and participates in Symphonian Chamber and Tri-M Honors Society. Though she is extremely busy, she makes time to address the stresses and struggles of being a high school student to benefit her peers.

“As teenagers, we’re growing during this time. This is a really vital time in our life. Our brain is developing, and I think it’s so important to have a support system of people,” Harvey said.

The sometimes overwhelming extracurriculars are just part of the reason why she values not only having a strong support system of her own, but also supporting her listeners and friends.

“We have a big group of girlfriends, but we’re all just so close. I think we’re all so kind to each other, and we’re also kind to other people,” Harvey said. “It’s just so nice to be around such joyful and happy people. It’s a breath of fresh air.”

Through it all, Harvey and her friends manage to maintain a positive outlook on life and high school. She shares her optimistic perspective on life through her personal podcast.

A best friend to Harvey, sophomore Avary Puliatte, adores the podcast and has consistently listened along with their other friends.

“I think it’s something that’s great to be put out there,” Puliatte said. “She talks about a lot of good topics on her podcast that I think [are] important for people to learn.”

The podcast has not only become a way to help others, but also a safe space for Harvey to speak freely.

“It’s just fun to be able to do a little passion project like that because I feel like we’re so focused on grades and everything, and I think it’s so nice to have something fun to do,” Harvey said. “It’s just really fun to be able to talk, and I think it’s fun to spread my advice to people whether they want to take it or not.”

In all aspects of life, Harvey wishes to be known as a helping hand, constantly offering support for all kinds of people.

“I’ve had some different experiences so I just want to be able to share them and hopefully help people out,” Harvey said.
