AP African American Studies has officially started for the 2025-26 school year. The new class is taught by Dr. Melissa Moxley during blocks 4A and 2B. “So far, things have been running smoothly. Students are interested in the material, and they have enjoyed the textbook readings as our first chapter covers ancient Africa, something they haven’t been exposed to before,” Moxley said. The course “examines the diversity of African American experiences through direct encounters with authentic and varied sources. Students explore key topics that extend from early African kingdoms to the ongoing challenges and achievements of the contemporary moment,”according to the course syllabus.
