The curtain falls, and the beautiful stage lights up with the captivating sounds of their song “Look To Winward,” blessing the audience’s ears. Sleep Token steps out on stage, and a night of whimsy and delight begins.
The British metal band Sleep Token began their North America tour in Duluth, GA., on Sept. 16 and concluded in Los Angeles, Calif. Oct. 11. From beginning to end, their ability to put on an incredible show was not missed.
The stage itself was unbelievable with multiple levels, stairs, and platforms for the background singers and drummer — carved like a mountainside and with the essence of a mystical forest. The whole show seemed like it was out of a fantasy storybook, and the music was the storyline.
Sleep Token’s recently released album “Even in Arcadia” was the star of the tour, but overall, their setlist had a nice mix of songs from their different albums. Special solo performances in “The Summoning” and “Akaline” appeared as well, which added to the specialness of the show.
Two songs from the “Even in Arcadia” album, “Provider” and “Infinite Baths,” made their first live debuts, and they were certainly crowd favorites. Particularly during “Infinite Baths” at the end of the show, is when the fan project came out to shine.
At each tour location, fans held up signs that read “You are loved,” “You’ll never be forgotten,” or something similar. The fan project was to showcase how much the band meant to them, as the main singer shares his mental struggles through his music.
This show was unforgettable, and you could really tell that the band put time and effort into putting on a perfect show for their fans. It almost makes the wait bearable for their next tour.
