Balancing academics, sports, and what seems like a 100 clubs, senior Laura Justesen has truly no stone unturned.
Justesen left almost no club unattended, joining and participating in a total of 12 clubs, all while being a three-season athlete, competing on the Emmaus girls tennis team, a diver for the swim and dive team, and a part of the pole vaulting team for track & field. Some of the clubs she’s most proud to be a part of were Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), Student Government Association, and Young Democrats. Another club included The Stinger, where she was photo editor.
Justesen will be going to Penn State University to attend the Smeal College of Business, where she will major in marketing.
Stinger: Which sport are you most proud to be a part of?
Justesen: Sport-wise, I feel like it’s definitely the track team. I started it my freshman year, and I feel like I’ve just learned to grow and love the sport. Just being a part of such a big team, even though you’re really with your individual event group the most, just learning all the different people and seeing new people every day, and you’re all working towards the same goal of wanting the team to win.
Stinger: Which club are you most proud to be a part of?
Justesen: Club-wise, I feel like it’s definitely FBLA. I love just being able to compete with my friends, and then going on fun trips, and also just doing something that we’re all passionate about. Also, I definitely feel like yearbook because I’ve been a part of it for so long, and just learning to love it.
Stinger: What impact do you think you left at Emmaus?
Justesen: I hope I am somebody who people think about when they hear someone hard working, involved, and passionate. I’m passionate about everything I do. I hope people remember me as somebody who is hard-working and determined. I just want my work and everything I’ve done to benefit the people around me.
Stinger: What is some advice you would give to underclassmen?
Justesen: Always work hard. Even if you aren’t as happy with how the result might have turned out, you might have not scored the top. You might have not gotten first place, not even second, not even third, but you will always know that no matter what, you did the absolute best that you could, even if it didn’t turn out the way you wanted it to.
