From starting as a member of the run crew of her freshman year in the production of “Fiddler on the Roof” to being the stage manager of her senior show, “Jekyll & Hyde,” Bree Schoonover aspires to continue her passion for theater in the fall at Susquehanna University.

She plans to major in theater production and design and minor in arts administration in hopes of finding her place in the vast world of professional theater.

Along with participating in build, run, and paint crews, Schoonover has been part of Jasper, where she has thrived in a project-based environment.

Both Jasper and the theater department have prepared her for the hands-on initiatives she strives to be a part of moving forward.

Stinger: What are some of your proudest projects from Jasper?

Schoonover: I know it’s basic, but the candle project. It was fun getting to design a little logo, deciding what kind of wax we wanted to use, and the scents.

Stinger: What do you plan to do [after graduation]?

Schoonover: I hope to work in the West End in London. That’s my biggest dream right now.

Stinger: What impact do you think you left at Emmaus High School?

Schoonover: I hope I’ve inspired some people to keep working hard towards their dreams, even if they don’t want to go into theater after high school. I hope that, in a way, people want to take after me and work hard to achieve what they want to do.

Stinger: What is a piece of advice you would give to underclassmen?

Schoonover: Get involved. Everything and anything is very, very worth it, even though it takes up a lot of time. Depending on what you do, it’s really, really rewarding.
