Check out these holiday activities to do this winter around the Lehigh Valley.
Earl E. Schaffer Bethlehem Municipal Ice Rink – Bethlehem
Bundled up in a scarf, some cozy socks, and earmuffs, you can have your Pinterest photoshoot at the Earl E. Schaffer Ice Rink…or a perfectly imperfect blooper reel as you slip across the ice. It all depends on your personal level of grace. The experience is $8 for youth tickets (17 and under), and just a dollar upcharge at $9 for adults (18-61). To rent a pair of ice skates, you’ll need an extra $4.
Lights in the Parkway – Allentown
Grab a blanket, turn up the heat, and switch on your seat warmers as you make your way through the glimmering lights covering the parkway. For $16 per regular vehicle, and $26 for commercial vehicles or limos, you can drive through the parkway. If you’d prefer a sans-car stroll through the Christmas light show, you’re in luck, as on Mondays — officially named “Move it Monday” — you’re free to walk, run, or even bike.
Illumination, Coca-Cola Park – Allentown
With nearly 1.5 million lights strewn around the baseball stadium, Illumination at Coca-Cola Park is a beautiful and exciting attraction for the family. Along with the colorful bulbs, the experience includes vendors, Santa’s Polar Express, holiday-themed food and drinks, and many other activities. Tickets purchased in December in advance are $13, however the price increases the day of the event. Illumination takes place throughout December from 6-9 PM, and 5-9 PM on select Saturdays.
Winter Light Spectacular – Bethlehem
Returning for the 12th season, the Lehigh Valley Zoo’s Winter Light Spectacular will be brightening up the night with nearly 1.2 million lights. Adult (Ages 12-64), senior (65+), and children (2-12) tickets are $11, while kids under the age of two have free admission. This light show begins Nov. 14, from 5-9 PM. With photo opportunities, multiple firepits to cozy up by, seasonal treats, and more, this holiday adventure is perfect for a little getaway.
The Christmas City; Main Street – Bethlehem
Bethlehem, named The Christmas City, is one of the best ways to get your holiday fix. Spending a day here might not even be enough to experience all that the area has to offer! With countless activities in the joyful atmosphere, like the annual tree lighting on Dec. 13 from 10 AM- 2 PM, the Christmas markets, and horse and carriage rides, The Christmas City is the perfect place to spend the jolly season.
Macungie Holiday – Macungie
The craft sale, gingerbread event, and huge scavenger hunt all throughout town are all activities included in the Macungie Holiday event on Dec. 13. From 10 AM – 2 PM, you can travel to various locations throughout Macungie during the scavenger hunt, the craft show will be in full swing from 9 AM – 2 PM at Memorial Park, and from 9 AM – 3 PM the Kalmbach Park Gingerbread Event will take place. These festivities have a little bit of everything, and something everyone can enjoy!
