Telling stories, not just writing

Laughter is heard from a mile away. The latest hits are being played, while some hum along to the song. There are snacks everywhere in sight; all one has to do is reach. One might think that they are at a party, but in reality, it’s production week for The Stinger.

Emmaus High School has the fortune to have a media where its students are able to write stories about current events, pop culture, and share their opinions with the school. Whether the story is about a local car crash or Taylor Swift’s brand new album, no story is too big or too small to be written. With these stories come student journalists. The Stinger has the pleasure of writing those stories, along with the honor of getting to put their work on display; however, writing isn’t the only thing that The Stinger does.

Journalism isn’t just about writing stories; it’s about telling them. Anyone can write a story, but those who are passionate can tell one. The Stinger staff not only writes stories, but shows them through media. The amazing photographers and illustrators on staff convey their stories through their photography and illustrations. The media team tells stories through their posts, while the “What’s The Buzz?” podcast gives the stage to the featured people in a live setting.

No matter the form of media, each tells a story. One doesn’t have to write to be on The Stinger; they just need to be passionate. The laughs and snacks are just a bonus; the true reward is telling stories. Do you have what it takes to tell a story?
