Zachary Brenner is pursuing agricultural engineering and will participate in Olympic-style rifle sports at the University of Tennessee at Martin. Brenner placed third overall this year on the Emmaus rifle team while being a part of a group effort that pushed the team to districts.

Stinger: What inspired you to pursue agricultural engineering?

Brenner: I started off wanting to do chemical engineering, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that’s not what I wanted to pursue. I then started to look into electrical engineering, but I also realized that it might not be where I wanted to be in the future. So I landed on agricultural engineering.

Stinger: What athletic achievement are you most proud of?

Brenner: I’m most proud of placing third overall this year for rifle, and I’m also proud of how our team has done this year.

Stinger: What inspired you to pursue your sport in college?

Brenner: The people. The rifle community itself is very welcoming in many ways, and I have met a lot of good people while shooting.

Stinger: What advice would you give to underclassmen in general or regarding athletics?

Brenner: I would say pursue what you love, regardless of what others say. And if you truly enjoy a sport, put in the work and become the best you can be, and believe in yourself.

Stinger: What extracurricular activities do you participate in?

Brenner: I like to spend a lot of my time outside, like fishing, biking, etc. I also like to dabble in bass playing and hanging out with friends and family.

Stinger: Is there anything else you would like to share?

Brenner: I would like to finish off with this: What other people think about you does not matter, as long as you focus on yourself and those who help to push you to be better at whatever in life. Like sports, music, or your job, you will succeed, no matter how hard life becomes.
