EHS senior Rylie Poll finishes her term on high school turf, but, this fall, Poll will begin her dream of playing in college as she continues her lacrosse journey at Hofstra University. She will major in supply chain management and minor in entrepreneurship, in hopes of using these skills to open up her own restaurant.
Off the field, Poll spends her time participating in the Pediatric Cancer Club, Morgan’s Message, and Fashion Club. Through her time at EHS, Poll inspires numerous individuals to continue their athletic journey, as she reunites with her sister, Jordyn Poll, a 2024 EHS alumna at Hofstra University.
Stinger: What made you decide to attend this college [Hofstra]?
Poll: It is a beautiful campus, and I will get to play lacrosse with my sister again.
Stinger: What inspired you to pursue [a major in] business?
Poll: My sister’s majoring in that [supply chain management] right now, and she really enjoys it. I didn’t fully know what I wanted to do, but I know I want to go to culinary school after college, so a business degree and the entrepreneurship minor would help me, possibly, open up a restaurant in the future.
Stinger: What impact do you think you left on EHS?
Poll: I believe I am the only girls lacrosse player who was given a red card in postseason … I think it was semi-finals in districts, and I hit her, and she fell, and then I checked her while she was on the ground. The ref red carded me, and I was out for that, the rest of that game, the following game.
Stinger: Do you have any advice for upcoming lacrosse players?
Poll: Just play your game, the coach will say some things that you might not agree with, but you have to work with [them], and you just need to focus on what you need to work better on and do that outside of practice.
Stinger: What athletic achievement(s) are you most proud of?
Poll: I am most proud of getting my 100 career goals because my freshman year, I was injured and played the rest of the season on defense.
