With a school record to her name, Kayleen Louis is closing out her track & field career at Emmaus High School on a high note.
This fall, Louis will continue her academic and athletic journey at Allegheny College, where she plans to major in engineering physics and pre-engineering while competing for the track & field team.
Louis made her mark during her senior season when she broke a 46-year-old school record in the shot put event with a throw of 37 feet, 8 inches. She also placed 3rd in the shot put event at the 2026 EPC Championships. Though her time at EHS began later than most, having transferred her freshmen year, Louis made the most of every season and proved that hard work can leave a lasting mark.

Stinger: What advice regarding athletics would you give to underclassmen?
Louis: Advice I’d give to the athletic underclassmen is to keep going. That fear you feel is because you’re new or adjusting, not because you can’t do it.
Stinger: What inspired you to pursue your sport in college?
Louis: The thought that I can continue growing further in my event if I put more time and effort into it is why I want to continue my sport in college. Also, because I aspire to be like Akaoma Odeluga as a thrower.
Stinger: What advice would you give to underclassmen?
Louis: Advice I’d give to the underclassmen is to be patient, safe, and make your mark somewhere.
Stinger: What athletic achievement(s) are you most proud of?
Louis: I’m most proud of breaking the school record. When I transferred to this school during sophomore year and saw that I had a chance at it, I made it my goal, and thankfully, I met this goal.
Stinger: What impact do you think you left on EHS?
Louis: My impact was more towards the sport. Throwing usually attracts more of the guys instead of the girls in general. So I guess breaking the record and throwing the distance I do shows other future female athletes that there’s a position for them, and the possibility of throwing at a high distance is always reachable with effort.
