Kristen Campbell earns doctoral degree

Kristen Campbell, the superintendent of East Penn School District, recently earned her doctoral degree. On Nov. 8th Dr. Campbell received her doctorate in Educational Leadership and Administration from Immaculata University.

Campbell was named East Penn superintendent in June 2018, replacing Dr. Michael Schilder. She previously served as an elementary school teacher, elementary assistant principal and principal, and assistant to the superintendent.

Academic team

Earlier this month the Emmaus Academic Team captured second place in the Scholastic Scrimmage finals, winning $2,000 that will go to scholarships toward the team.

Emmaus fell to Moravian Academy 585 to 300. The team — composed of junior Thomas Flexer, junior Eric Welp, senior Ari Bowman, and senior Thomas Hartill and alternate senior Andreas Marangon — will appear on PBS Channel 39 in January. In November, the team also won its EPC division championship in November.

Teachers Brent Ohl and Kevin Bisignani are the advisors of the team.

Addams family

More than 40 students auditioned for Emmaus’ school version of the spring musical The Addams Family. Tryouts were held from Dec 13-15.

The show will run the last week of March and the first week of April. Unfortunately, the school edition does not include Cousin It or Thing; however, the rest of the Gomez family and Lurch appear. The musical is an adaptation of an off-Broadway show in which Wednesday, all grown-up, falls in love with a respectable young man.
