Sept. 19,  Emmaus Main Street Partners and Gross McGinley LLP hosted the Farewell Summer Festival in the Emmaus Triangle to celebrate the final days of summer.

The festival lasted from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m., and featured a variety of events and activities throughout the day, including dance and martial arts performances, a cupcake eating contest, a special appearance by Ronald McDonald, as well as live music by EHS junior Joel Shimer. Additionally, many vendors set up shop in the Triangle and around it, selling goods from jewelry and clothing to furniture and home decor. The Large Flowerheads, a popular ‘60s groove music act from the Lehigh Valley, ended the day’s festivities with a concert.

Linda Gier of Emmaus enjoyed the festival and said her favorite part of the day was “all the different music.”

“I didn’t expect all the vendors to be here,” she said. “We had a perfect day, weather wise.”

Joan Helverson, a Lower Macungie resident and festival attendee, “happened to fall upon [the festival]” and said it “exceeded [her] expectations.” She  was especially glad to hear The Large Flowerheads were performing.

“[The festival] is awesome,” Helverson said. “This town knows how to do stuff.”
