Winter break is quickly approaching as the days dwindle down. However, right around the corner lies the midterms exams which will occur from Jan. 20-23. Because midterms can be stress-inducing, principal Beth Guarriello introduced a new study skills handbook in an email to all students on Dec. 8.
Created by faculty members, this handbook develops students’ study habits for high school and beyond. Teachers can utilize these strategies in classes, as many topics are subject-specific.
Topics mentioned in the handbook include general skills and subject-specific skills, including English, history, math, and science, with guiding techniques and resources aligned with each practice. Some resources include videos, quizlets, notes templates, and tips. The handbook also includes health-and-wellness tips to help students work against burn-out and academic stress during midterm season.
In addition, Amy Williams, a site coordinator with Communities In Schools, offers midterm prep sessions during hornet homeroom from Jan. 8-16 in the counseling office.
